Timothy W. Gresham is an Officer in PennStuart's Abingdon, Virginia office. He represents clients in workers' compensation and occupational disease matters and advises clients on issues involving mineral rights and regulations, as well as environmental and safety matters. Before joining the firm, Mr. Gresham served as Assistant Attorney General of Virginia. In this capacity, he was involved in the enforcement of laws relating to the mining and oil and gas industries. Prior to that he was a corporate counsel for the Pittston Company Coal Group.
Mr. Gresham has been selected as a Best Lawyer® in mining law and environmental law since 2008. He is active in the Energy and Mineral Law Foundation, serving on its Board of Trustees, as President in 2004 - 2005, and presently as Special Advisor to the Executive Committee. Mr. Gresham is the 2011 recipient of the John L. McClaugherty Award, given for extraordinary service to the EMLF and natural resources and energy law.
Mr. Gresham has made numerous seminar and conference presentations concerning occupational disease and mineral and environmental law and regulation. He has also published many articles relating to mineral and environmental law topics. He is a past member of the Board of Governors of the Environmental Law Section of the Virginia State Bar and presently serves on the Virginia Bar Association's Environmental, Natural Resources & Energy Section Council.
